I'm happy that you decided to join the forum! Hopefully I get to play with you sometime in the future as I have been absent from the scene for the past month. Also if you are looking to get into the competitive scene I can help you improve certain areas and connect you with the right people. If you want to chat just add me on steam [DMD] Leprachaun. Can't wait to see you out there, and if you haven't already you might want to consider getting vip on the DMD server it helps quite a bit ;D
NS2 is certainly unique and awesome : ) The only tips i really have are mid-level ones (probably not very useful for you). As a lerk just kite and spike shotgunners. As a skulk, when fighting a shotgunner and they do that jump and spin to get some space between you and them, don't leap forward into them. As lerk with celerity i like to attack quick and get away for just a second. When they start to reload you can fly right back in and bite them down. Good for fights around corners. Don't be a floor skulk. Bunny hop and wall jump when moving. Learn the ducts in each map and use them to get behind marines. Practicing higher-lifeforms that you are bad at can be a painful and expensive thing. Practicing on combat servers seems the easiest to me. See you online!
Practice flying in - spiking your target and getting out. mastering those turns is important.
Carnes had some good points although when you get into point blank range with a marine, especially if they have a shotgun, staying on the ground can be your best solution as now instead of jumping up onto their vertical axis they have to aim down and move horizontally. Also for the lerks, there is almost never a good reason for a lerk to engage a shotgunner at point blank range because you never know when they will get the lucky shot with weapons 2 and one shot you, the lerk is worth more resource wise than the shotgun so try to spike the marines until your receive backpack from: 2 or more skulks, a fade, or an onos. Also for comp play you need to focus down on one of your higher lifeforms and really hone it, A.K.A Lerk or Fade, there are so many people that can play Gorge and Onos, but few that can play a really good lerk or fade. As a marine really try honing your shotgun skill as it is the most useful in comp play but also being able to track (rifle/pistol) is an ability that comp players let go of which you definitely don't want to do so I can recommend when you are 1 v 1 with a skulk try killing it with your pistol and that will be really good practice.
