File missing

On a map change to ns2_nsl_summit i received a "File missing" error. Watched the server browser and saw the player count drop to zero. Guessing they all had the same issue. I did subscribe to that map in the NS2 steam community but still couldn't join the server.

Myself and my friend Mando both had the same issue the other night, and I'm assuming everyone else did too. It seems to have been cleared up now, though, since I'm able to join the server, despite it still being listed as running Summit.

Edit: Apparently not. I was able to join, and now I can't again. Hnngh.

Summit is a custom map which resides on the steam workshop.
When the server changes to summit. The server attempts to communicate to the steam workshop once to see if there's an update. If it succeeds, and there is an update - it'll update itself. But - If if fails and there was an update available - that's where we have the problem.

From a clients perspective - it detects the server loading summit - The client ( your game ) attempts to communicate to the workshop constantly retrying until it succeeds in downloading the update. However as the server itself failed to be updated - You received "file not found"

There's nothing that can be done at this point except to get ahold of myself, knox, or fxckingarto and request a server restart.

It's been an ongoing problem for all servers since day 1. UWE designed the server software to fail after one attempt of communicating with the steam workshop - and we all are quite familiar with how often steam goes offline, or has networking issues. Having the server attempt to update itself from steam and then fail means the client has "updated files" and the server has "old files" meaning files do not match. - as such you get an error.

If you see this again, plz get ahold of us ( myself, knox, or fxkingarto ) and one of us will restart it immediately.

Anyways - I hope this gives you insight as to how that error is generated. I do apologize for the downtime, but until UWE fixes this - or chooses to fix it ( Server Admins spammed this issue all over the UWE forums ) the issue might pop up now and again.
