Post How to fix a broken main menu.

If you have an issue where you have no main menu in game, Here's the fix.

    1. run dxsetup in drive/program files (x86)/steam/steamapps/common/natural selection 2/redist/directx/
    Its about half way down.

    2. Delete the files in drive/users/user/appdata/roaming/natural selection 2 **NOTE YOU NEED BE ABLE TO SEE HIDDEN FOLDERS SINCE THIS IS A HIDDEN FOLDER.
    - On win7 to show hidden folders click on organize>folder and search options>view check "show hidden files, folders and drives under hidden files and folders.

    3. Delete these 3 folders
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Natural Selection 2\coreshader
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Natural Selection 2\core\lua
    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Natural Selection 2\ns2\lua

    4. Go on Steam, go to Natural selection 2, right click>properties>local files> verify integrity of cache

    Enjoy the game.

Another fix to the broken menu

I tried the above solution didn't work. Rusty helped me figure out it was the options menu not saving when you close the game and the LUA was looking for a model that didn't exist. So I messed with both options XMLs.
The fix that worked for me was going to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<userid>\4920\remote\options. xml. From there I edited the Options.XML and change all the model variants (Ex: <marineVariant>6</marineVariant> and <gorgeVariant>1</gorgeVariant>) to Variant 2 since it is a basic model. After that the menu started working fine.

    Broken Options Menu

a while back my options menu was broken and would stick onto the screen after exiting and I wouldn't be able to switch skins but luckily thanks to Rusty and a developer for the game there was a fix to it! all you have to do is delete the 4920 folder here is how you can reach it C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<userid>\4920 . once you do this next time you restart ns2 it should be ok.
