Oculus Rift

I am very anxious to get my hands on one of these. Has anybody here tried one out or know somebody who has one? I really wanted to get one a few months ago and almost ordered it but they are still considered "developer kits". Does anybody know when a consumer model will be made available??? The technology that makes it work isn't as complex as you might think which is why the price is surprisingly low so I figured the consumer model would be available by the end of this year.

I'd like to hear your opinions of the Oculus Rift and whether you plan to get one when made available. I mean, as far as virtual reality for the average consumer goes, this thing is way ahead of the competition. Everything else i've seen that's tried to do what the Oculus Rift does just came up short. Way short. It boggles the mind a bit when you see what it's capable of and then see a price tag of 300USD. If they don't announce a date for a consumer model by Xmas, I might just go ahead and pick up the DevKit. Or should I be more patient? Ugh... idk

^^^Wow... does he think he's funny? Or entertaining? He made that entire video unwatchable. I kept skipping ahead thinking he would quit but it only got worse and worse. Made me want to reach through my monitor and slap him.

Edit: Well, I just went to his YouTube channel. Correction, his hugely successful YouTube channel. I guess whatever he's doing is working and people like it. Needless to say I was surprised. Now i'm annoyed and envious. Thanks skulkbait

This thing seems so awesome. I can't wait to try it, hopefully plenty of games will be supported.

I really want them to be successful because this type of technology is fascinating. That being said, they should release the consumer version sooner rather than later so they can seal up the market.

I can't wait til there's a device that operates by dreams (you think it and it happens) THAT is the next step in gaming! Oculus is a good step forward
